Compiling XSane scanner utility to run from within Gimp_Painter

To install XSane do the following
Download XSane from here: http://www.xsane.org/download/xsane-0.997.tar.gz
extract it by saying extract here.
Navigate to the extracted folder: cd Download/xsane-0.997/
do the following
./configure
make
sudo make install
after it has finished the installation, do the following for Gimp to recognize XSane
in the terminal type:
ln -s /usr/local/bin/xsane ~/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins
Attach your scanner and fire up gimp by typing gimp in the terminal.
In gimp go to file create and you will find XSane there.
Scan and paint using your new Gimp Painter.
